What a week

This has been a crazy week for us. The old saying "When it rains it pours" seems to apply to us this week. As I say earlier it started off with Keith going to the ER via ambulance for dehydration. After a horrible visit to the Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, which is a non-profit hospital and treats everyone. Use your imagination, yes everyone was there, they got him stable and he went back to work on Thursday. Everyone is calling him the the non-stop man. He really is a wonder. Then Thursday, I hurt my toe (don't ask me how), but it pulled my nail apart and caused trauma to the nail. I thought it would get better, but decided yesterday I better go to the doctor. They did some minor surgery on it at the doctor's office and now I am limping with a huge toe AND IT HURTS. I didn't get much sleep last night so didn't get to go to church this morning. I had to hang my left leg over the bed to get it to ease up just a little. Now I have to go to a podiatrist to check it out. It sounds so silly to say your toe hurts and seems so small with everything else going on. When we got home, Mom had to go to the doctor. She had fallen 2 weeks ago and hurt her side. I took her to the doctor last weekend and they said she had a very bad bruised rib. Well, it wasn't getting any better so Keith took her yesterday (since I can't drive) and they took x-rays again and said she had fluid in the lower part of her lungs and it might be heart failure. They wanted her to go to the ER for more test and to expect to stay overnight. She wouldn't let Keith take her, so my aunt and uncle came over and took her to The Duluth Medical Center. It is part of the same hospital system, just MUCH better. Keith was there in the spring and I can't say enough good about that hospital. They did more x-rays and it turned out that she had cracked her rib in the fall both on the side and fractured it in the front. No heart failure, thank you God. It had us scared for a while, but she will be okay, but is in alot of pain right now. So, poor Keith has to take care of both of us. At 2 this morning mom and I were both up trying to get easy and the really sick one was sleeping away. I almost had to laugh at the situation.

Then, Keith decided to change the spark plugs in the cars and they gave him the wrong ones for the Focus and we can't get them from the parts store so I have to go to the Ford Dealership. I think it has been a comedy of things this week.

Anyway, I think mom and I on the mend. Just will take a little while for everything to mend. Hope everyone has a good week and I have a much quieter one.

Hi Suzan and family,
My goodness, I don't visit your site for a couple of days and look what happens! You have really had your hands full. I hope your toe is better. It seems like whatever we hurt can become the most painful part on our body. I hope you are able to get some rest, it sounds like you need a weekend retreat or an afternoon or maybe a couple of hours? Do you have anyone close by you that can give you some help? Or let you get some rest? I'm sending you thoughts that are tranquil and peaceful. I think of small mountain streams that gurgle and gently splash and tumble over river rocks. I love the sound of water. I grew up on a farm and we always had horses. They were beautiful. Sometimes I just think of the horses running free and tossing their heads with their manes and tails flying in the breeze. (Perhaps it's a medifor) It's a scene in my mind that just gives me a few moments of complete freedom. Another trick of mine is what I call, 'time out for popcorn.' when things get somewhat hectic I imagine myself getting a big bowl of popcorn and sitting 'up' above everyone else, maybe in a corner on a big piece of furniture like a hutch, and I observe. I eat my popcorn and I just take in everything like I'm watching a movie and become amused by it, sometimes it is rather entertaining. I find if I do that instead of getting 'caught up' in all the action, my energy is not depleted.
My heart goes out to you. I wish your world was as simple as brooks and horses and popcorn. Just know that I care and wish you good things. Your son and husband are absolutely awesome and so are you. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope Keith is feeling better and that your mom is ok too. Will you be your son's driving instructor? You are a brave soul, not that I wouldn't trust Christopher, I think he is one cool kid.
Please remember, thoughts become things, choose the good ones!

Suzan,
I think this may be good for you (not that I want you to be hurt), as you will be forced into resting a little! You NEED it, my friend! Please know that our thoughts and prayers are always with you, especially now. Make sure to get a pedicure, as long as you're nursing your feet.... ;)
