We saw the doctor today

We saw the doctor this afternoon and I really liked him. He doesn't pull any punches and tells it like it is. I admire this in anyone. He explained alot of things that finally made sense to me. He also said that he thought that (this is hard to say) since Keith's heart and lungs have been strong that he is holding on. He said that Keith could probably hang on 1 week maybe 2, but could go sooner. He explained why he suddenly when downhill so fast in language that made it easy to understand. He said it is a fine line in the brain and that the tumors had been growing and suddenly hit the area where he just went downhill. Christopher also met him and he was in agreement that the best place for him right now is with his Dad. Christopher's mind is not on school at the present time and spring break is next week, so I am going to let him stay out until break is over. Maybe I am wrong, but I don't think so.

I did get glimmers of Keith today. I talk to him all the time and today I was talking about taking Christopher to get some new jeans. He gave me the eyebrow raise and smiled. He also knows that Christopher can con me at times. I am a sucker for my son, but he really did need some new ones. I had to laugh. He has had less pain today. They changed his long acting pain med's to a little more than he had been getting, so he didn't have as much of the break though med's. He seemed peaceful and easy today.

We came home about 7 tonight. That was another thing the doctor said, go home and get some rest. I have to admit I do need it. I am so tired and wander if I will every feel rested again. Even in my bed, I find myself turning over and expecting Keith. Everything seems so empty, especially when I realize that Keith will never be here again.

There are things that do bring smiles to me. A lot of people know I am a Michael Crawford fan. In case you don't know who he is he was the originally Phantom in London and New York. Christopher and I both are members of his fan club, which I hate to call it. It really is a circle of friends. Anyway, when I got home yesterday I had a card and when I opened it, it was from him. Yes, he had written a personal note and signed it. Of course, he doesn't know each and everyone one of us, but to think he took the time to write this means a lot to me. Sound silly right????

Don't feel guilty for taking Christopher out of school. He needs to be with his Dad right now. He can catch up on his homework when his Dad is sleeping. It is good that you went home to get some rest, and I do hope you get some. The next few days and weeks will be some of the hardest ones you've ever had in your life but if you're tired, you'll have a harder time getting through them. Know that God is watching over you and may you get the comfort you need from him as you lovingly watch over your husband. Again, my prayers are with you.

Suzan you have to do what you need to do now, for yourself, for Christopher and for Keith. If that means that Christopher misses some school, then so be it. This time with his father is probably one of the greatest gifts you can ever give him. How wonderful that Michael Crawford took the time out to write to you. How special that must feel. Little blessings. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with you all. XXOO
