We had to increase Keith's pain med's yesterday from 1 long acting pill every 12 hours to 1 pill every 8 hours. He is now also on the break though med's every 2 hours and the Activan every 4 hours. We also had to start the oxygen because he was having trouble breathing. He had a someone restful night though at 1 he decided to get up. I gave him his medicine and he settled back down. I think I got a few hours sleep. Today has been quiet. He is sleeping most of the time now and is not eating. He ate his last solid food yesterday morning. He is eating Jell-o and Lime sherbet. When I went to check on him this afternoon, he was trying to get up again. He wanted out of the bed, so I got him in his wheelchair and he started having the dry heaves. This is happening just about every time he tries to get up.

I had hospice come out yesterday. It was not their normal day and the first time I felt that I really needed to call them to check him out. The hospice nurse also came out today and said that he was holding his own. They are getting everything ready for continuous care when the time comes.

This morning I got to spend a while with him remembering things that had happened to us over the years. He also asked me to wear his favorite perfume. He said it smelled so good. I cherish the moments that I get him back, even if for a few moments.

I just read Brain and Jenni's blog and Brian is losing his battle quickly. Please pray for him and their family. It looks like Brian will celebrate Easter in heaven.
